Omar Eltakrori has become one of the most insightful YouTube content creators in 2024. From selecting the right equipment to crafting compelling content, Omar’s channel is a go-to resource for anyone aspiring to start a YouTube channel this year. With over 80k subscribers on his podcast, “The Dept. with Omar El-Takrori,” you’re sure to gain valuable insights that can transform your approach to content creation and your life.
In a recent episode “The Easiest Personal Brand Strategy in 2024”, Omar shared practical advice on how to consistently produce content by embracing the idea of “being the content.” Instead of pressuring yourself to generate new ideas, script videos, and schedule recording times, Omar suggests that you shift your perspective. When you become the content, there’s no need to script or brainstorm extensively—your everyday life becomes your content. This approach not only fosters consistency across platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram Reels but also simplifies the creative process. The key is to film yourself doing what you already do.
For example, as a blogger, rather than searching for new topics to discuss, you can turn your daily activities into engaging content. Record yourself setting up your office, researching topics, reading books you plan to review, or capturing behind-the-scenes moments of a photoshoot. This method reduces the pressure to constantly talk in your videos—though you can always add voiceovers later if desired. Essentially, you become the topic.
It’s clear that we live in a digital age where technology dominates. Gone are the days when a 9-to-5 job was the only way to earn a living. Creators have unlocked new avenues for income, and staying relevant in this landscape is crucial. As Omar puts it, “If you’re not showing up digitally right now, you’re going to date your business/brand.”
Remember, you don’t need to create perfect content. This is a challenge I’ve faced for years, which is why I’m now playing catch-up. Omar’s advice is simple: “You don’t need perfect content. You just need people to see that what you do lines up with what you say and that you are who you say you are. If you capture yourself doing what you do best, the proof is there.”
Intentional Communication
Another recommendation Omar gives is to make sure you are intentional when communicating. Communicating with intention not only helps your audience grasp the importance of your message, but it also boosts your confidence. This has been one of my toughest hurdles, but I’m learning to overcome it. I’m not someone who can “fake it until I make it,” nor do I enjoy talking just to fill the air. When I speak, it’s because I have something meaningful to say. However, in the past, I struggled to articulate my thoughts on video because I was trying to speak from an “expert” perspective rather than as a “student.” So, it’s important to communicate your thoughts intentionally and in a way that resonates with others.
Serving Others
If you’re unsure of what you have to offer the world, start by offering your service. As Omar wisely notes, “If serving is in your heart, that is your pathway to greatness. The way to achieve greatness is to serve.” What may seem ordinary to you might be exactly what someone else needs to hear. Don’t let the “curse of the expert” hold you back from creating content or pursuing your goals. As Omar advises, “Just show people that you do stuff.”
Identify something you’re good at or knowledgeable about and use it to help others. Even if you don’t feel like an expert, find a way to serve. As you do, God will continue to pour into you, enabling you to pour into others. Whether through lending a helping hand, donating, teaching, or simply listening, serving others is a powerful way to create meaningful content. That, in itself, is golden content.
